Swing States: Trade, Media, and the Electoral College 

What influence do swing states have during elections? This social science inquiry annotated bibliography seeks to answer this question with four schools of thoughts: political interests, voter ideology and the electoral college, trade, income, and industry and media institutions.

 

What is a swing state? This social science inquiry literature review dives deep into this topic discussing their level of influence in elections. Swing states have a major influence in elections because of fake news, social media, and the electoral college. Swing states have a moderate influence in elections due to economic activity and demographics. Swing states have no influence in elections. The real problem is swing voters, state legislatures, and redistricting maps.

Health and Caring Professions     A Hole in My Heart

A creative nonfiction memoir focusing on a single refugee, Amil who literally has a whole in his heart. Amil's family has diverse illnesses leading to difficulty in obtaining United States Healthcare. Character names have been fictionalized, but agencies mentioned are real.

This first paper will argue that physician-assisted suicide (PAS), the practice whereby a physician provides the means for a patient to take his or her own, should be legalized as an option to die.

 

This second paper will argue that medical and public health professionals should advocate prenatal testing, though not as a means of preventing disability and will not advocate selective abortion at all.

Health and Caring Professions: Topic Essays

In six short topic essays, I analyze, synthesize, and apply concepts using course material, research, and personal experience. Themes for discussion include​ suffering, professionalism, nurses, a book called Twelve Patients, impaired clinicians, and resilience and hope.
